Biotyping is the new black
Most people would like to improve their general health, fitness or body composition. But it's hard to know where to start when there's so much information available, and so much of it is conflicting.
We're pretty clear that straight calorie-counting is out, low-fat is no longer a thing, plants are good and ultra-processed foods are bad. But within those parameters there are still plenty of fashionable options to select from. Macro tracking? Calorie cycling? High protein? Low carb? Gluten-free? Paleo? Keto? Vegan? Vegetarian? Pescatarian? Intermittent Fasting? Or select a combination from the buffet of choices?
And then there are your exercise options - so many recommendations for time of day, combination of weights/cardio, appropriate intensity. But that's just your fitness and fatness. Your body is a social being as well as a physical one. Everyone needs to find an appropriate balance between discipline and indulgence.
It's a real logic puzzle to marry up nutrition guidelines you can live with and an exercise plan you can adhere to. Even if you can do that, you may find that the result meets only some of your goals. Perhaps you're losing weight but sleeping terribly and feeling awful. Or maybe your regime makes you feel fantastic but somehow it's stacking on the centimetres.
So what's the answer? It's in your genes. Generic is out, personalized is in. Knowing your unique biotype gives you a map to follow for optimal health, vitality and body composition. It can indicate whether early morning HIIT will take weight off you or put it on, whether Intermittent Fasting will ignite your vitality or hangry exhaustion. Knowing your biotype will likely affirm many of the things you already know about yourself.
Every individual exists somewhere around a 360degree wheel but there are six general biotypes - Connector, Guardian, Diplomat, Sensor, Crusader and Activator.
